Cruel Intentions

It's 2:50 am now and I've just finished watching a movie in the PIX. The movie is titled as Cruel Intentions. The cast of the movie includes Sarah Michelle Gellar, Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe among others. Though I could catch only the last part of the movie it wasn't too tough to understand the basic theme. A quick search in google did the rest to tie up the broken threads in the story.

The story revolves around the theme of the game of seduction. Kathryn makes a bet that her step-brother, Sebastian, won't be able to bed Annette (a virgin, who wants to wait until marriage) before the start of the school year. If he loses, Kathryn gets his Roadster, if he wins, he gets Kathryn. Though Sebastian wins the bet, in the process he gets smitten by the feeling of love and finally admits everything to Annette. The movie shows Sebastian dying in an accident while trying to save his love and ends with the revelation of the Kathryn's misdeeds.

The most intriguing part about the movie is that the whole story has been told in a lucid and fluent manner keeping the feeling of suspension and a piquant guilt that would never allow the audience to get a jolt and think what is happening.

The acting and direction will probably secure a A+, while the plot and the screenplay could have been a little better. But Sarah Michelle Gellar was simply awesome!
